I have to admit, I feel a little bit like a sell out creating a blog. I have made fun of many blogs and and bloggers in my day, not excluding twitter and the like. Fact is, I find it kind of hubris of people to think that the world actually cares what they are doing or thinking on a daily basis (this excludes blogs with a specific purpose- those can actually be useful). However, since I am terrible at corresponding and keeping in touch, it seems that a blog is the best way to keep my friends and family updated on life abroad. A blog is much easier then the email tree my family constructed last summer when I backpacked East Africa. So, I'll give it a try and hopefully I'll be able to post on a semi-regular basis.
On an other note, I'm super excited to leave for the Peace Corps! I've been so preoccupied the last couple weeks preparing to move back to my parents house in Michigan that it hasn't really hit me yet that in a short couple weeks I'll be moving to West Africa. I'll post on my thoughts and preparations as they progress.
